Mike Rose presents an entertaining and motivational magic show which promotes reading and library use. Telling the story of how a book changed and guided his life, Mike displays his first magic book, a 100 year old tome* that was a gift from his grandfather. During the show Mike draws on his expertise as a performer, magic historian and published author to show how books became the major source of his success at becoming a professional magician. And throughout the show the children will be entertained by some of the actual magic tricks Mike learned from these books! As inspiring as it is entertaining, the kids will learn that you really can choose your own path and that books can help you accomplish your goals.
If you’ve had Mike at your library before, then you know how popular his shows are. If you haven’t, just schedule Mike for your library and your patrons will tell you themselves!
“Mike Rose is a longtime favorite at our library. Patrons from eight to eighty regularly ask when he will be returning with a new magic show. Friendly and funny, Mike is a consummate performer.” – Paula G. – Baltimore County Public Library, MD
The program is 45 minutes long and the fee is $350.00 (travel fees may apply). However, if you schedule two or more performances the fee drops to only $315.00 each! The programs don’t have to be at the same location, merely coordinated with other libraries to be on the same day. You are encouraged to send out a message on your listserv to coordinate with other librarians to get the reduced rate.
