Mike Rose is not just a seasoned professional comedian and magician but he is also a magic historian and award-winning author (Mike’s book, Joe Karson – Beyond Zombie – a biography of the nearly forgotten yet highly influential magician from the early 20th century received the “Library Special Award” from the Book Award Committee of the Society of American Magicians Hall of Fame and Magic Museum).
Mike’s latest book, Maryland’s Ambassador of Magic: Phil Thomas and the Yogi Magic Mart is a biography of a Baltimore magic icon. Phil Thomas was indeed Maryland’s Ambassador of Magic. From his early days of performing with lifelong friends Milbourne Christopher and Hen Fetsch (both of whom went on to achieve fame in the magic field) to his decades of owning and operating the Yogi Magic Mart on Charles Street in downtown Baltimore, Phil truly earned his status as a Baltimore magic icon.
During the multi-media program Mike discusses the life and achievements of Phil Thomas and his impact on the Baltimore magic scene during the mid-20th century. The program features rare photos and artifacts pertaining to Phil Thomas and includes an overview of Baltimore magic clubs dating back to 1911. The program is guaranteed to be informative and entertaining.
